Terms
Terms of membership.
Last updated 15 September 2026.
These terms govern your use of brunchat1.com and your membership in Niagara Brunch Socials (“Brunch at 1”, “we”, “us”). By applying for membership or attending a gathering, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not apply.
1. What we are
Niagara Brunch Socials is a small, members-only Sunday brunch club based in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Gatherings are hosted at local restaurants and venues we do not own or operate. We are a social club, not a dating service, networking organisation, or event ticketing platform.
2. Eligibility and applications
- You must be at least 19 years of age to apply.
- Every application is reviewed by our host. We may accept or decline any application at our sole discretion and are not obliged to give a reason.
- You must provide accurate information, including your real name and a clear, recent photo of yourself. Applications with false information, stock images, or photos of someone else will be declined, and existing memberships may be cancelled.
- One membership per person. Accounts may not be shared or transferred.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at brunchat1niagara at gmail dot com if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
4. Seats, deposits and cancellations
- Each gathering has a fixed number of seats. A seat is only confirmed once any required deposit has been paid.
- Deposits are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Cancel at least 48 hours before a gathering and your deposit is refunded in full or credited to a future gathering, at your choice. Cancellations inside 48 hours, and no-shows, forfeit the deposit, because the venue has already reserved the table on your behalf.
- If we cancel a gathering for any reason, deposits are refunded in full.
- Food, drink and gratuity at the venue are paid by you directly to the venue unless we say otherwise for a specific gathering.
5. Conduct at the table
The whole point is a warm, safe, genuinely enjoyable table. We ask every member to:
- treat other members, hosts and venue staff with courtesy and respect;
- keep what is shared at the table at the table — do not repeat personal details other members disclose;
- not use the club to solicit business, recruit, or pursue anyone romantically;
- not photograph or record other members without their clear consent;
- not attend while impaired to a degree that affects others’ enjoyment.
We may pause or end a membership, without refund of any forfeited deposit, if a member’s conduct is inconsistent with these expectations. We will always try to raise concerns with you directly first.
6. Your photo and your details
Your profile photo is used only by our host to confirm identity and to keep our gatherings safe. It is never published, shared with other members, or used in marketing. How we handle all personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. Venues and third parties
Gatherings take place at independent restaurants and venues. We are not responsible for the food, service, premises or policies of any venue, and each venue’s own terms apply while you are there. Payment processing is provided by Stripe under its own terms.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Ontario law, Niagara Brunch Socials and its host are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your membership or attendance at a gathering, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount of any deposit you paid for the gathering concerned. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Ending your membership
You may cancel your membership at any time by emailing brunchat1niagara at gmail dot com. We may end or pause a membership as described in section 5, or if the club ceases operating. Sections 6 through 10 survive the end of your membership.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date and, where practical, emailed to members. Continued membership after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Ontario.
